We’ve done a lot of camping since our Trans-Americas Journey beganin 2006. However, some of the most unusual and most breathtaking wilderness over-nighting recently took place in the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge in Georgia where we canoed in to our own private camping platform and slept mere inches above the alligator filled swamp.
This piece has man-eating reptiles, migrating birds and utter, utter seclusion. We say, plan your own canoe camping trip now!

As you know, we spent the past few years on the Journey tenting and Airstreaming our way across the US. The experience really taught us that not all campgrounds (or campsites) are created equal, but there are some real stunners out there if you know where to look.
Travel & Leisure just published our piece about some of the most exceptional campgrounds and specific campsites from Alaska to Florida. Check it out, then get out there!
