Thanks to our SPOT Satellite Messenger you can see our exact Trans-Americas Journey road trip driving route through Guatemala in May 2011.
We spent the first half of May in the gorgeous colonial town of Antigua. From there we headed up to the Alta Verapaz area of Guatemala, stopping at the Biotopo Quetzal where we saw quite a few of the flamboyant namesake birds. Then we headed up to the Chelemha Lodge where we saw even more quetzals. From there we headed up to Lanquien and the beautiful natural swimming pools at Semuc Champay. Next, we headed down to Lake Izabal and on to Rio Dulce. We ended the month hanging at our friend’s ranch near San Luis.
